MATAR PANEER
Ingredients
1 cup shelled green peas (matar)
200 grams cottage cheese (paneer), cut into ½-inch cubes
2 tablespoons oil
¾ teaspoon cumin seeds
2 large onions, chopped
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 green chillies, chopped
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
2 large tomatoes, puréed
Salt to taste
¼ teaspoon garam masala powder
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander
Fresh coriander sprig for garnishing
Method
1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and onions and sauté till lightly browned. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder and mix well. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Add the green chillies and mix well.
2. Add tomato purée, salt and one cup of water and cook for two minutes. Add green peas and cottage cheese and garam masala powder and mix well and chopped coriander and mix well.
3. Serve hot garnished with the fresh coriander sprig.
